About Us

Högbo Brukshotell & Spa has 252 beds spread over 126 rooms, one restaurant serving locally sourced gourmet food, a newly opened spas of 1100 square meters and conference department with capacity for up to 200 people in the same room. In our unique dining and banquet halls, we can help you with larger events and weddings. For those who are looking for adventure, we offer many different activities all year round.

Sustainability is our philosophy

At Högbo Brukshotell we take sustainability seriously. As far as possible, we use locally produced and organic raw materials. Our goal is to be able to grow or breed everything we use. We have our own greenhouses for vegetable growing and animals grazing in the farm's paddocks. Read more about the project Made in Högbo.

History of Högbo Bruk

The history of Högbo Bruk stretches back to the 17th century when the mill had a thriving iron manufacture. About 200 years later, bessemer steel was produced under the direction of Consul Göransson — something that revolutionized steel making worldwide. This resulted in the emergence of a new industrial group, now known as Sandvik.

No more iron is produced at the mill. Nowadays, Högbo Bruk is a vibrant outdoor recreation area and cultural reserve, where horses and carriages are still used in the work. Where the legacy of centuries sits in the walls and is felt in everything we do. Try forging or glassblowing, enjoy a gastronomic experience in our restaurant and breathe in Swedish history at its finest.

Getting here by car
Högbo Bruk is located just outside Gävle, only a two-hour drive from Stockholm, about five kilometres north of Sandviken along Route 272. There are good roads with clear signage all the way here.

Go by public transport
It is also good to take the bus to us. Take bus line 44 from Sandviken and get off at Högbo Kyrka stop. From there it is a short walk to the hotel.

Högbo Brukshotell & Spa is owned and operated by Winn Hotel Group AB, headquartered in Gävle, and the castle's CEO Tomas Lindqvist. Winn owns and operates a total of 12 hotels, including Bjertorp Castle and Såstaholm. Common to all our hotels is the joy and passion for guest experiences of our employees.
